Edu-Series: Thinking outside the box - The different sides of Craniofacial challenges

Paediatric cases involving velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD) are appearing more frequently on the caseloads of both school-based and medical Speech-language pathologists (SLPs).

These cases can be complex, requiring clinicians to accurately recognize the associated speech features—such as resonance disorders, nasal emissions, and compensatory articulation—and to determine an appropriate, evidence-based intervention plan.

This webinar will provide an overview of the anatomy and physiology underlying VPD, review the speech characteristics commonly associated with cleft palate and VPD, introduce relevant screening and assessment tools, and offer practical, clinically applicable treatment strategies.
